Event date1 Aug 26 - 1 Aug 26
- Direct message
Join us for a warm night of thrilling Shibari performances and experience an evocative sharing of rope artistry, connection, and creative expression. Featuring live performances by local practitioners in a warm and welcoming setting. This evening invites you to witness the beauty, skill, and storytelling that emerge through rope.
On this evening our space holders will share parts of themselves and their practice for you to witness and enjoy. For some of us this will be the brave first steps to perform and share in public, and you, our community, will become the space holders for this rite of passage.
Expect fun, intensity, vulnerability and shared joy. You’re invited to stay afterward for a hangout or perhaps your own rope explorations.
Embodiment Rope Space is a not-for-profit venue dedicated to exploring the erotic art of consensual restriction known as Shibari / Kinbaku / Rope Bondage. We are a safe(r) space where informed consent, communication and care are paramount.
The evening will start with the doors opening at 18:40 and our performances will promptly start at 19:30. Doors will be closed at 19:15, so be sure to arrive on time. Before the performances start, you can chat, find a seat, have some drinks, and enquire about any rope or other goods on sale at our rope kiosk.
On the night, we will have two rope performances & one predicament rope session incorporating impact play.
Performances:
HotSqueak & Lee
Sudo & FireLily
Tatewari & TonicTantra
More about the practitioners sharing their work:
HotSqueak (they/them) has been involved in the greater kink scene since 2012. They care about the safety of people, especially those in kink, and believe that communication is our most powerful tool. HotSqueak is an impact play specialist and currently rapidly developing their rope skills in rope bottoming, topping and education.
In 2020, Lee (they/them) stepped into the world of kink and carefully started discovering the art of rope bondage with trusted friends through the Embodiment space. While initially only bottoming in their kinky shenanigans, Lee eventually gained the confidence to attempt self-tying and developed to become a skilled rigger.
Sudo (he/they) has been a student of kinbaku for many years, focusing mainly on semenawa. He has studied widely – at Copenhagen Shibari Dojo with Yukinaga Max and in Berlin with Tamandua. He is part of Akechi Kanna’s study group and is a student of Naka Akira. He runs the private Cape Kinbaku Salon together with his wife Fire Lily.
Fire lily (she/her) is a rope bottom with deep experience in different styles of bondage and a rich insight into the psychology of rope, gained over many years of practice. She enjoys exploring the opportunity for creative expression that rope offers. Fire Lily together with her partner Sudo runs Cape Kinbaku Salon.
Tatewari (he/him) is a flow artist specialising in fire performances and UV-active shibari rope. He loves the hypnotizing, sensual art of weaving beautiful elemental patterns, built on years of technical practice in both disciplines, and he will take you on a hypnotic journey.
TonicTantra (she/her) is a nurse educator and tantric facilitator who found Shibari in 2019. Rope brings her mind and body into the present moment and keeps her learning: a knot to get right, someone new to explore, a dimension of herself still unlocked. It's taught her to communicate directly, and brought friendships, intimacy through contact, and connection in many ways.
Join us afterwards; the Space will stay open for those who want to relax & chat.
Embodiment Rope Space is a welcoming and safe(r) space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies. We practice rope communally and host occasional workshops for up-skilling the community. Rope is never safe, there are only ways to practice it more safely.

FAQ
What is Shibari/Kinbaku/Bondage?
The art of binding the body of a consenting adult.
Is rope/Shibari always sexual?
Rope/Shibari has many benefits and practitioners outside of the sexual paradigm. For some, it is about pushing their bodies not unlike engaging in strenuous exercise or extreme sports. For others, it is a way to reclaim their agency after trauma. It can also be a way to experience a connection with others without the scripts and expectations associated with genital contact. As long as what you are doing is consensual and intentional, we consider it healthy and valid.
What should I wear?
This is a learning environment, not a sexual one, so crotches are to remain covered. Other than that, you are free to wear whatever you like. Comfy, sexy, sporty, fetish - as long as your booty is covered, you are welcome here.
What should I expect on the night?
We hope to create a safe and intimate space where you will get the rare opportunity to learn from highly skilled professionals. You will also have access to our team to chat about rope and connect with the community in a low-pressure environment.
Note on accessibility:
We believe rope is for every body. At the same time the building we are currently occupying does not allow for wheelchair access to ground floor ablution facilities. This is an ongoing negotiation with the current landlords. However the space itself allows for wheelchair access :)
