Shamanic Temple presents
TEMPLE OF REVERENCE: Queer & Straight Temple for Couples
Fri, 11 Sep 2026 | The Spice Yard, Salt River, Cape Town
Soft land 18h00 — final closing 23h30. Doors close at 18h25!
A ceremonial space for straight and queer couples to explore sacred sexuality, embodied presence, and erotic spirituality together
-----------------------------
WHAT THESE NIGHTS ARE
-----------------------------
Several couples move through this ritual together in one room, and every couple works only with each other. Your gestures, your elements, your silences pass between the two of you and nobody else. The other couples in the room are companions on the same path, not partners in the practice.
We are entering a practice of sacred worship, the kind humans have turned to across every culture and every age to mark transitions, to deepen bonds, and to touch something larger than the daily self. You will move through a guided ritual as the one tending, then again as the one received.
Ritual regulates the body before it ever touches the mind. Measured, intentional ceremony lowers cortisol, brings two nervous systems into rhythm with each other, and opens the parts of the brain that register safety and trust rather than threat. When touch is slow and consented and unhurried, the body learns something the mind cannot argue with: that vulnerability with this person is not danger.
We speak little across the evening. In the quiet, the analytical mind steps back and the hands become the voice. Your stillness becomes the offering.
Power moves through this ritual openly. One partner leads and tends, the other receives and is worshipped, and then you switch, so both of you leave having practiced holding power with care and receiving it with grace.
Nudity is welcomed and often part of the ritual, though never mandatory. Touch is sensual throughout and may move into erotic territory between the two of you, at your own pace.
No prior ritual or conscious-sexuality experience is needed to arrive ready for this.
An evening to slow down. To explore sexuality, embodiment, and connection through ritual and intentional practice.
These nights are about gently finding ways to deepen intimacy with yourself first, and then with others. We work with the body, breath, movement, sensation, and the quality of attention you bring to another person.
Somatically: We work directly with the body—breath, movement, sensation, presence—as a way of coming home to yourself and to others. The body is the doorway into everything else.
Relationally: We practice making contact. First with ourselves. Then, if and when it feels right, with others. Consensual touch practices create the conditions for genuine meeting: presence without agenda, touch without assumption, connection without pretence.
Psychologically: We work with what you carry. The conditioning, the stories you inherited about your body, your desire, touch, intimacy. This is where shame softens.
Shamanically: We connect ourselves as part of the Great Mystery, and explore our connection with the living world we are part of. There are no forced beliefs. Shamanism encourages deep remembering and connecting to your own wisdom.
-----------------------------
WHAT WE WORK WITH
-----------------------------
Inside the temple, you move between guided ritual and open time together. You might encounter:
— Opening circle, naming what you carry into the room and what you're curious to explore with each other
— A sequence of elemental blessing rites, moving through touch, scent, sound and breath as you tend to one another
— Guided practices where you alternate between leading and being led, tending and being tended
— Breathwork to bring your nervous systems into rhythm with each other
— A closing rite of shared nourishment and intimacy
— Free ritual time to rest, integrate, or simply be with each other
— Closing circle, landing back into ordinary reality together
-----------------------------
WHAT YOU'LL GET FROM THIS EXPERIENCE
-----------------------------
You get an evening built entirely around the two of you, where every element of the ritual is designed to bring you back
into contact: with your own sensation first, then with your partner's. You get to practice leading with care and following
with trust, and to feel what shifts in you when the roles reverse. You get silence long enough to actually arrive in your body, and touch slow enough to notice what you usually miss.
Couples often leave having remembered something about each other that daily life had quietly worn smooth. That is what this ritual is built to restore.
