Description

Joseph Okleberry is the founder of Nia, a company committed to catalyzing the world’s collective wisdom to awaken and enrich the human spirit. Nia facilitates Circles that combine evidence‑based tools, psychological safety, group sharing and support, and reflective and contemplative practice, to help people move wisdom from the head to the heart.

Joseph’s own journey has been one of inquiry into what it means to live a truly fulfilled life. After a career on Wall Street and in Venture Capital, he began to question whether external success alone could deliver lasting inner fulfillment. This led him to step away from traditional finance and dedicate the past decade to the study of human flourishing, contemplative practice, and applied behavioral science.

Joseph’s practice is anchored in Michael Singer’s Temple of the Universe (Florida), where he has spent extended periods of immersive practice over the past three years. His training also spans intensive study at Sattva Yoga Academy in Rishikesh, monastic Buddhist education at Kopan and Tushita, and extended silent retreats at contemplative centers including the Buddhist Retreat Centre, Dharmagiri, and Bodhi Khaya.

Joseph holds a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) from the University of Pennsylvania, where his work explored how virtues such as kindness, fairness, and bravery shape human behavior and ripple through relationships and communities.
