Description
ECHOES OF AFRICA: Connecting with Africa
Join us for a transformative workshop where the vibrant rhythms of Africa meet the heart-centred dances of Biodanza. This unique experience blends the dynamic world of African movement, inviting participants to discover the continent’s essence, energy, and cultural richness. Together, we will explore how these movements harmonize with the expressive and integrative dances of Biodanza, creating a powerful synergy of flow, connection, and vitality.
The Biocentric Principle acknowledges that we are infinitely connected and an integral part of life—an ever-unfolding experience, like a fountain constantly bringing forth new expressions. No longer are we mere observers in the story of life; we become the source, the story, and the experience.
Drawing inspiration from Africa’s profound spiritual and rhythmic heritage, this workshop invites everyone to dance with joy, freedom, and unity through movement. Whether you are new to Biodanza or a seasoned participant, this journey will expand your creative expression and deepen your connection to your body, community, and the world around you. Come dance with us and feel the ever-creative pulse of life in every step!
About CHRISTOS DASKALAKOS
Born in Johannesburg,, Christos Daskalakos is a Co-Director of the Johannesburg School of Biodanza SRT. His passion for movement started early, when, as a young student, he joined Moving Into Dance, an innovative non-racial dance company founded by Sylvia Glasser. Here, as a performer he was immersed in the vibrant world of Afro-fusion – a unique blend of Western modern dance and traditional dance from South Africa.
Christos discovered Biodanza in 2001. In 2004, he became a Biodanza facilitator and has been leading Biodanza groups and workshops ever since. His passion for Biodanza has led him to do training in several Extensions, his favourites being Aquatic Biodanza and Biodanza and Neo-Shamanism.
Besides dance, Christos is an architect and urban designer by training; he taught for many years at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Here he had the opportunity to explore the contribution dance can make to architectural education.
His interest in the intersection of movement and healing has also led him to graduate in Psychology, highlighting his holistic approach to therapeutic and conscious dance.
