Brothers Of Colour

Brothers of Colour is an intentional men’s circle created for men of colour to explore brotherhood, masculinity, identity, culture and the experiences we carry within a space of shared recognition.

We know that men of colour are not one experience, and this work is not about separation or suggesting that meaningful brotherhood cannot exist across race.

Embodied Brotherhood remains committed to creating spaces where men from different backgrounds can meet, learn from one another and do this work together.

At the same time, we’ve experienced the value of a space where some things require less explanation — where shared cultural and racial reference points can offer another layer of safety, belonging and resonance. In a South African context, where race, culture and history continue to shape our lives in complex ways, we believe there is value in making room for that.

Brothers of Colour is one container within a much bigger brotherhood. We believe there is value in gathering across our differences, and sometimes value in gathering within them. One does not diminish the other.
