Description
Healers, poets and storytellers know that working with the psyche is an art not a science. True healing, doesn’t happen rationally, but is deeply linked to the wilderness of the imagination.
There are many paths into this wilderness. Surprisingly, they often begin right on our doorstep, with the experiences of our daily lives, our struggles with relationships, sex, money, health, emotional turmoil and anything that is demanding our attention.
These experiences come with their own language, flavours, sensations, stories - what we refer to as "images".
Imaginal Therapy
In sessions we talk through your experiences (past and present) and "track" these images, like animals, following closely, learning their ways and allowing them to lead you home, to the imaginal field that provides the deepest nourishment for your life.
This is the development of imaginal intelligence - the capacity to feel, sense, taste, embody the archetypal significance within our experiences. It is through this sense of something meaningful and profound that the deep-seated blockages and conditioning that have kept us stuck begin to dissolve. This is how we unweave the threads in which we've become entangled, in order to be recalibrated and rerouted onto an authentic path by the deep psyche. Doing this consistently, with guidance, helps to open new possibilities for transforming the areas of struggle in your life.
Dream Tending
Our dreams want to be touched, heard, met, danced with. They are living realms with living creatures that require relationship in order to reveal their significance. Dream Tending is the craft of bringing our dayworld consciousness into a state where it can meet the dream on its own terms. Sessions are focused on developing the skills of presence and the imaginal intelligence required to enter a portal into the deeper psyche where the dayworld self can be schooled in the organic, wild nature of our deepest being.
Soma and Focused Breathwork
Breathwork is a simple tool for anyone who wants to experience deep meditation, re-embodiment, calm and flow in a very short time. When combined with image work, it fine-tunes the body-psyche connection. SOMA Breathwork incorporates intermittent hypoxia which promotes health and wellbeing on many levels, including healing the gut, balancing the nervous system and lowering stress hormones. Focused Breathwork uses music and movement to access the unconscious operating system and allows the psyche to express and resolve its complexes in a safe way.
About Me
I am Elzanne Roos and like many who are called to this work, I began by seeking out teachers who could take me where I needed to go for healing, initiation and practice.
While my academic psychology education has been invaluable, it was the experience of being guided through my own depth therapy that makes me able to offer support to others. I completed initial psychology training at Rhodes University in South Africa and then completed a master's degree in Archetypal Psychology at the Tamboo Academy with deeply practical experience in somatic imaginal processes including Focused Breathwork. I underwent a rigorous internship as an imaginal therapist and workshop facilitator, and taught first and second-year classes at the academy.
Since then, I have received further certification in coaching, Soma Breathwork as well as Dream Tending with Steven Aizenstat, the founder of Pacifica University.
Over the last 18 years, I have worked with many people looking for a way through complex emotional, situational and spiritual landscapes. Artists who cannot create. Writers who are slowly withering in their day jobs. Parents who are worrying about their children. Partners who have lost connection with each other. Singles who are burned out from dating the wrong people. And others, who feel listless, lost and perhaps struggling to make sense of events that happened long long ago. I walked with each of them, weaving threads of meaning, catching tantalising hints of purpose, and following these clues towards the well-spring of connection, inspiration and inner support they had been missing.
