Gaia Speaking facilitates the Work that Reconnects and other eco-spiritual or deep ecology practices through a variety of formats, in gatherings including practices such as ceremony, song, performance, dance, arts, nature immersions, retreats, online circles, etc. We hope that you can join us in person or online and that our community will inspire you on your path.

In this present moment and here, within South Africa, original land of the Khoisan, and Rainbow Nation for the human communities that came in their footsteps, we extend a humble invitation to Gaia and all of her species to freely speak through us.

A wilderness guide, WTR facilitator and artist, Joanna Tomkins encourages ecological awareness and positive action through workshops and events, art and nature immersions, podcasts and articles, designed for individuals or communities.

She co-designs and facilitates song circles and artistic workshops to introduce the WTR to a broader public in South Africa, where it is still emerging.

"I moved to Cape Town in 2009 to guide in the Southern African wilderness. I have directed social documentaries and initiated various cultural and wilderness projects. In addition to travel, event and project management experience, I am also trained and work as a ceramic artist. I founded Gaia Speaking in 2020 to walk the Spiral of the Work that Reconnects."
